ASIC Design Engineer

PragmatIC requires an innovative ASIC engineer to design and implement block and chip level digital designs for our mixed-signal and RF integrated circuits using our unique flexible technology. As part of our expanding R&D team, the successful candidate will develop a variety of new circuits and perform evaluations of the fabricated flexible ICs in our lab, working alongside colleagues from all across the company.

Key tasks:

  • Digital VLSI design and physical implementation:
    • Concept and feasibility study
    • Design of Verilog RTL blocks
    • Synthesis
    • Floorplanning, place and route
    • Timing closure
    • Insertion of DFT test structures
    • Design verification
  • Product design documentation:
    • Document all relevant product and design information to educate others on novel techniques and guidance on product usage
  • Product characterisation:
    • Evaluation of designs in PragmatIC test labs
    • Define, conduct and analyse data from product performance characterisation

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications: establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices and participating in professional societies.

Qualifications and training:

  • Masters / PhD in Electronics or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)

Skills and experience:

  • Knowledge or experience with digital design tools; simulation, synthesis, floorplanning, place & route, clock tree synthesis, parasitic extraction, static timing analysis, timing closure, physical verification, power analysis, formal verification, ATPG insertion / pattern generation
  • Able to specify, set-up and maintain the digital design flow (an advantage)
  • IC full custom design experience (Schematic capture, layout editor, SPICE simulation) an advantage
  • Strong scripting ability (Unix/Linux, sh, tcl, perl, C, etc)
  • A team player with good communication skills, experience in report writing (latex) and technical presentations
  • Ability to work independently
  • A desire to work in a small but commercially orientated company
  • Willingness to work under pressure to tight deadlines
